The Lusitania Museum & Old Head Signal Tower is located at the highest point of the iconic Old Head peninsula and is the first Signature Discovery Point on the Wild Atlantic Way.
The restored Napoleonic Signal Tower, over 220 years old, provides an atmospheric space to explore the history of rebellion and the position of Ireland in British-French relations in the 19th century.
As the closest point of land to the sinking of RMS Lusitania, torpedoed by a German U-Boat in 1915, the Old Head is a poignant place to reflect on one of the most significant events of World War One. The museum exhibits powerful Lusitania artefacts including a deckchair, plates and cutlery. The names of all passengers and crew aboard the Lusitania on her final voyage are included on a bronze memorial in the Lusitania Memorial Garden.
